The short answer: we're not 100% sure. According to a May 14, 2011 entry on the Bakugan Wiki, user Lordofpyrus had this to say:

"I just spoke with the same person i talked to YESTERDAY at SpinMaster, you guys keep thinking All of Bakugan is being Cancelled and replaced by Redakai, WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just Talked to them and the Customer Care Agent I talked to, Jeff, said;"Indeed many people think that becuase of the termination of Bakugan Dimensions, All of Bakugan is being Cancelled, but that is not the case. Bakugan and the ew game Readakai are not involved with one-another. Bakugan Dimensions is being shut down to "open the gates" for a new unreleased Bakugan Online World, probably releasing inbetween the next few months to a year or so. Redakai has nothing to do with the Bakugan Franchise. We do not plan to be cancelling or disposing of Bakugan any time soon, if it does happen, it will not be for a long, long time. We here are all sad about the cancelling of Bakugan Dimensions, I mean... who wouldn't want to play a really fun online game. THESE are exact Quotes i typed during our call. So all of you doubting Bakugan, STOP WORRYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 BAKUGAN WILL NOT BE CANCELLING, JUST DIMENSIONS, AND WE'RE GETTING SOMETHING BRAND NEW AND MORE EVOLVED THAN DIMENSIONS SOON! NOW STOPP WORRYING!!!!!!!!!"

This sounds like good news, however it is now nearly a full year since this post. No new news of an online game has surfaced, and no other news in regards to Dimensions cancellation has been announced. And although the e-mail comes from what appears to be an official source, you would think we would have heard about something that is in the works, right? Or at the very least, the cancellation of the online game if it were being made in the first place.

I'm not exactly sure what to think, but all we can do is hope that a new online Bakugan game emerges in the meantime.
