There are six attributes, each represented by a different color. Below is a basic overview of the different attributes.
The color of Pyrus is red. Pyrus is sometimes referred to as 'Nova'.
Pyrus can be found at the inner core of the universe and is inhabited by Bakugans who draw their strength from the excruciating heat that surrounds them. It is within these deep recesses of molten rock that their intensity is forged. Never one to waste even a second, the Pyrus blitz their enemies from every angle like a raging firestorm.
Dan's plays Bakugan with the Pyrus attribute. The Pyrus World is also home to Dragonoid (Drago), Dan's Guardian Bakugan.
The color of Subterra is brown / tan. Subterra is the earth attribute, and its rugged exterior prepares it's Bakugans for the hard and cruel universe that awaits them.
Subterra Bakugan often have very high G-Power and a straightforward approach of overpowering their opponent. This is much like Pyrus, but there is also an emphasis on overpowering your opponent so you can use some of your most powerful ability cards.
The Subterra realm is home to Gorem, Julie's Guardian Bakugan.
The color of Haos is silver / grey. Haos is the light attribute, and its symbol is a 5-pointed star.
Haos Bakugan have some of the lowest G-Power in the game. They don't really rely on G-Power that much, since strategy is the main idea of Haos. Haos often win by using cards that either switch the G- Powers like G-Power Swap, cards that win with the lowest G-Power like Tricky Gate, or using your lower power Bakugan to use very powerful ability cards.
The color of Darkus is black. Darkus represents darkness.
Darkus is located on the Dark Hemisphere of the Universe and is home to Bakugans who are grandmasters in night fighting and causing destruction. Years of study and intense training have allowed the Darkus Bakugans to thrive in Battles hidden deep in the shadows of the night. It is within these shadows that the Darkus Bakugans grow in strength.
Darkus Cards have a large variety of G-Powers and ability cards so there are are many ways to use them. A main part of Darkus Bakugan are sending cards away, eg. Doom Card or Masquerade's Throw or manipulating what they do with different cards.
The color of Aquos is bule. Aquos represents water.
A deceiving tranquility fills Aquos deep below the dark waters. It appears calm on the surface, but in the silence deadly warriors lurk. Aquos Bakugan seamlessly glide from one attack position to the next, constantly preparing for their moment of glory.
Aquos Bakugan usually have average G-Power but use trickery to either boost them or dwindle their opponent. Many cards make the opponent feel safe and secure but then cards with powerful effects come up and shock the opponent, eg. Marucho's Launcher.
The color of Ventus is green. The Ventus attribute represents wind.
The planet of Ventus is swift and silent yet within its borders lurks a vicious cycle that overwhelms intruders and punishes them for trespassing. The Ventus Bakugans are fast and powerful like hurricane winds. Once their enemies get caught in the eye of the storm, they are defenseless to the Ventus' wrath.
Ventus was created later than other 5 attributes so Ventus was not included in earlier Japanese gate card.
